About Me

Hello! I’m a director of photography who has been working in television, commercial, and corporate video production since graduating from Full Sail University in 1999. At the age of 26, while working with Del Hall, I received an Emmy Award for “Individual Craft; Videography/Non-News”, shooting for the series “Come Out and Play.” In between client shoots, I was fortunate to be assigned the responsibility of documenting the creation of Millennium Park, which brought home another Emmy Award.

These projects spawned many professional relationships, resulting in being appointed as Chief Photographer at AnswersMedia in Chicago. While there, I earned yet another Emmy nomination in 2010 for a project highlighting green initiatives in Costa Rica. Since then, I have seen every corner of the US and much of the world working with the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, CNBC, CBS, NBC, Fox Business, VH1, CMT, TV One, ESPN, and others, all while balancing commercial and corporate clients.

Now, with over twenty years of experience in the studio and field, I have the know-how to “shoot for the cut” for any scripted or unscripted production. This includes: boardroom interviews in London, food beauties in Tahiti, training modules on a battleship, motion control green screen, re-creations in the mountains of Montana, and live single cam on stage for a Taylor Swift award acceptance speech. I have been trusted by media professionals to use that knowledge and experience to get the job done, creatively, on time, and on budget. Make sure to scroll further down to see what these industry pros have to say about their time with me.

I look forward to hearing from you. Even better yet, let’s get a coffee and discuss our next adventure!

-Clients, Producers & Writers-

For over 15 years, Brendan has been our “first call” camera operator and DP. Conscientious, creative, efficient, affable, and well-traveled, Brendan has become a trusted member of our team. He’s completely at home on any commercial, corporate, or event set and delivers “for the edit” footage on time and on budget. I highly recommend Brendan for any location/studio/travel shoot needs you may have!

-Mike O’Rourke, Owner/Producer/Director, Michael O’Rourke Productions, Inc.

As an executive producer in the documentary industry, I have hired and worked with Brendan for more than 10 years and give him the highest recommendation. He is gifted with an incredible eye. Brendan has high energy, hustle, and a strong midwestern work ethic. He is truly indefatigable. Though his gift is visual communication, Brendan is a skilled verbal communicator as well. You never have to guess what he is thinking. He is a font of ideas, always creating and pitching ideas to the producer or director. On-camera talent, interviewees, and other crew members love working with Brendan. He makes people laugh and feel at ease.

-Mike West, Executive Producer of Documentaries

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Brendan for more than ten years. While his camerawork is consistently superb, his experience and attitude are also remarkable. He is a born problem solver, filled with creative ideas for navigating inevitable challenges. He is reliably invested in our projects and contributes tremendously to the storytelling. His energy level is amazing and his unending positive attitude is always just what we need.

-Molly Bedell, Senior Producer

Brendan is my go-to. He is the sort of DP who thrives on the creative but more importantly can execute with no fuss. When our shoot in the Philippines was upended by a typhoon, he worked long days and nights to get us back on track. His stuff looks gorgeous, but more importantly he’s a great guy.

-John Pappas, Director/Co-EP

I started working with Brendan when he was recommended by a colleague who was reluctant to share him. Brendan immediately became my go-to DP.  He’s consistently creative, versatile, professional and a true problem-solver. When he’s on set, I know we’ll always get above and beyond what we’re aiming for. He has just the right touch around my corporate clients. In addition to being a treasured collaborator, he’s become a trusted friend. I can’t think of a higher recommendation than that!

-Julia Powell, Executive Producer

Brendan Hubbard took the feature documentary series I was producing to the next level.  He is creative, efficient, has fantastic ideas, his interview setups are gorgeous and he was an all around pleasure to work with.

-Kayla McCormick, Producer, NBC Network News & Documentary

Over the last 10 years Brendan has been my first call anytime I need a Director of Photography. Brendan brings his vast knowledge of production to the table anytime I have a need, his ability to adapt on set and work hand in hand on the vison we are trying to create is above all else. From run and gun to the perfect sit-down cinematic interview, Brendan will take your production to the next level.

-Clayton Monical, Senior Producer, Image Base

Seasoned directors know that a project’s success hinges on the collaborative genius that results from hiring the best DP. Brendan Hubbard’s brilliance as a storytelling partner goes beyond his technical excellence and cinematic artistry. Hubbard efforts to understand the narrative purpose of what he shoots and to execute the director’s vision. This is what makes Brendan the cream of the crop. He delivers exactly what your story needs. Time and time again he delivers impactful moving images without any fuss or drama. If you are in the market for high end artistry without the crazy ego, he’s your man.

-Grace Kahng, Director

Brendan is literally my #1 go-to. Beyond being a superior cinematographer, he is a master storyteller. He understands how to captivate an audience and bring any story to life. I would trust him with any production big or small. Not only is he always willing to go the extra mile, he’s also one of the kindest and most professional individuals I’ve had the privilege to work with.

-Kristin Reyer, Producer/Coordinator

Brendan Hubbard left Chicago three years to the dismay of the city’s producers. Chicago’s loss turns out to be Oregon’s gain. I’ve filmed with Brendan on river barges, garbage recycling plants and jails. He finds creative opportunities for dynamic visuals in even the most desperate situations. Brendan’s work ethic is still legendary in the Windy City – he’s never satisfied and keeps shooting until we have to literally drag him away. I can’t recall a single complaint he ever made in over a decade. Everyone who works with Brendan sleeps a little easier the night before a complicated film shoot. I hesitate to write a recommendation because it means Brendan may not be available the next time I call with a project… but he’s earned his success.

-Peter Marks, Writer/Producer

Brendan is the consummate professional – great attitude and work ethic, beautiful cinematography and fantastic person to boot. Can’t wait to work with him again!

-Doug Veith, Producer/Director

I highly recommend Brendan for any DP role. We have worked together on diverse projects around the country for well over a decade and he never fails to bring his A game. With extensive experience, a keen storytelling sense and a unique creative eye for images, Brendan is a true collaborative partner that elevates everything he touches. His fresh perspective and ideas are thoughtfully conveyed with a positive attitude that is so helpful on any set. I would – and will – hire Brendan any chance I get to execute a flawless product.

-Tania Lindsay, Producer/Writer/Director

Brendan is one of those great videographers/DPs who do the pre-production work to understand what they need to capture, are totally prepared once they arrive on the set, bring a collaborative mindset, 150% of the required energy and have an awesome creative energy and attitude that touches everyone. The work is always better with his participation. For location, stage, by himself or with a full crew – on any kind of shoot – I cannot recommend him highly enough.

-Alex Epstein, Executive Producer

Brendan’s skill as a DP is unparalleled. He possesses an innate ability to capture the essence of every scene, infusing it with emotion and artistry. His keen eye for composition, lighting, and framing elevates the visual storytelling to new heights. However, what truly sets Brendan apart is his unwavering dedication to the success of the project. No challenge is too great for him; he dives in headfirst and goes above and beyond to ensure that every shot is executed flawlessly. His relentless pursuit of excellence not only benefits the overall production but also inspires everyone around him to strive for their best. I highly encourage fellow industry colleagues to seize the opportunity to collaborate with him. Working with Brendan will not only elevate your projects but also provide a delightful and memorable experience.

-Sean Murray, Partner-Executive Producer, Elkhorn Media and Entertainment

Brendan Hubbard is a great photographer with the right combination of talent, hard work, and eye for making consistent and memorable pictures. He has the education, experience, and talent to be a prefect cameraman. I would never hesitate to call on Brendan for any project. If he was not available, I would wait for him.

-Del Hall, Owner/Photojournalist/Editor, Del Hall Video

Whenever I was directing a production it was a load off my mind having Brendan Hubbard on set and on camera, I knew that part of the production would be solid.  He knows what is needed, is always ready with good ideas, thinks like an editor and doesn’t slow down.  A pleasant and positive force on any production.

-Patrick Yackley, Producer/Editor

I have had the pleasure of working with Brendan Hubbard over the years on some amazing video shoots. On location, in studio, tabletop, interviews, actors, even a boat or two – he has always been at the top of his game. Not only is he an excellent shooter with an incredible eye, but his sense of humor, his patience and his calmness under pressure has always made him an excellent collaborator. Most of the projects we worked on together were the types of shows where budgets were tight and timelines were tighter. With little margin for error, and the clock ticking, Brendan always has a trick up his sleeve to take a production to the next level.

-Bernie Dudek, Producer

I worked on staff with Brendan for approx. 4 years as well as hired him freelance for several years. His creativity and passion to get each shot be as best as it can is a constant high bar that he brings to each job. He is also a pleasure to work with and brings a professional standard, high energy and enthusiasm to set and recommends fun and creative ways to capture the best shots!

-Teresa Wysoglad, Executive Producer/Director

Brendan Hubbard’s work is exquisite, his work-ethic unparalleled, his talent unmatched. He’s smart, creative, professional, and invariably kind. Whenever I know Brendan is our DP, I breathe a sigh of relief and gratitude. Even if everything else goes wrong – the visuals will be spectacular. That’s the kind of DP he is. He’s the best of the best, and he’s funny. You’ll get images more beautiful than you even hoped for.

-Heidi Zersen, Producer, Documentary Filmmaker

In over 30 years as a producer and director I have worked alongside numerous DP’s, none of which are as skilled, dedicated to the craft and willing to do virtually anything to “get the shot” as Brendan Hubbard. Whether in a pristine studio setting or in the jungles of Costa Rica, Brendan’s ability to tell any story visually adds mega-value to the finished project. He is extremely collaborative and knows how to shoot for the cut.

-John Lenart, Producer/Director

Being on a shoot with Brendan is a guarantee that what you walk away with will exceed expectations. He gives his all to everything he does and is never content with “good enough.” He’s super organized, extremely creative, and fun to have on set.

-Daniel Freed, Senior Producer/Writer

Brendan is the cream of the crop of Directors of Photography. His ability to creatively conceptualize, productively communicate, and flexibly maneuver through the challenges of shoots, large or small, make him a most valuable asset to any production. What Brendan lights and shoots, simply put, Shines! Much like his demeanor and level of collaboration. He’s versatile and durable, to boot… I wish I could have Brendan on every shoot of mine; but alas I have to share him with the rest of producers who have the desire to surround themselves with a talent like his– effectively making us all look great for our clients!

-Kevin Maci, Maci Productions, Inc.

I have had the pleasure of working with Brendan since the beginning of his career. From day one he has always given 110%+ to my projects. He is meticulous in all aspects of production and is always an asset to the audio, and lighting crew when DP’ing a shoot. I have used Brendan in many first impression shoot situations and have secured long time clients with help from his efforts. I have also been able to send him on locations in charge of additional crew with full trust and stellar results. For over 20 years, he has never let me or any of my clients down.

-G. Paul May, Owner/Producer/Director/Editor, Spotmen Studios Inc.

In my experience, it is exceedingly rare to find Brendan Hubbard’s level of talent combined with his communication skills, extraordinary work ethic, and general good nature. He is confident and assured in his work, putting his clients and colleagues at the center. Brendan notices the details others miss, and that’s in large part because he brings so little ego to his work; all day long he’s thinking of how to serve the project. He has a preternatural ability to put himself in the mind’s eye of everyone else who will touch the production, whether they be a writer, an editor, a field or story producer, or a post-production professional. He knows what they need and delivers the complete package.

Brendan is someone with whom you can spend 16 hours a day for a week straight and still not get sick of him! As a woman working in a male-dominated field, I have never once in ten years felt him condescend to me. Early in my career, when I was producing my first episode, I felt grateful for the myriad ways he had my back. As I grew more experienced, he always accepted my vision in the field, only clarifying when needed, never questioning its validity. Each time we collaborate, I learn something from his example. The best testament to working with Brendan Hubbard is his long roster of repeat clients. When you find someone special, you hold on tight. I’m looking forward to our next adventure together.

-Jeanne Heffron, Writer/Producer

-Editors working with the footage-

Brendan is the most creative DP and Camera Op I have ever worked with! His ability to foresee potential problems in post-production has saved me on multiple occasions. On top of that, he has a creative lighting style that perfects each production he works on. Not to mention he has amazing vision and brings every shot to a heightened level making your production look outstanding. Brendan is my go-to DP and always my first choice.

-Brad Stewart, Producer/Editor, Verizon

Brendan Hubbard is an outstanding cinematographer who knows how to make beautiful shots. More importantly, he knows how to make a SEQUENCE of beautiful shots that cut together in service to storytelling. For six years, I’ve had the privilege of cutting Brendan’s work into the CNBC true crime documentary series American Greed. Whether it’s interviews, evidence, evocative location scenics or dramatic recreations, Brendan’s lighting and composition are always on point and he always delivers the sequence of compelling shots I need to tell the story. On set, he’s a creative problem-solver who works well with producers and talent, and he’s a tireless workhorse who won’t quit until the very best stuff is in the can. Anyone who hires him is lucky to have him on their team.

-Bill Ward, Editor, American Greed – Cold Case Files

When I’m starting a project, I always have a picture in mind of what I want the footage to look like. With Brendan, the footage he delivers always exceeds what I’ve visualized. His creativity, thoughtfulness and generosity while shooting is unmatched. Too many times, I’m looking for more options, more angles, better footage…not the case with Brendan. He quite simply goes above and beyond. Whenever I have a say in the DP, Brendan is always the first choice.

-Scott Holoubek, Editor

As an editor and producer, I’ve had the great fortune to work with Brendan Hubbard on several projects over many years. Whether it’s capturing real-life moments on the fly or carefully crafting recreations, Brendan’s eye for detail and sense of cinematic storytelling make an editor’s job easy. And, perhaps more important, Brendan is a pleasure to work with. Always affable and full of ideas, Brendan remains one of Green River Films’ go-to shooters.

-John Farbrother, Editor/Producer/Owner, Green River Films

Brendan shoots like an editor thinks. It’s like any story board you might have had in your head comes to life. He understands what it takes to build a sequence and gives you all the coverage you need, (as well as the shots you didn’t know you needed). He is a very creative thinker and has an excellent eye. Hands down the best DP I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

-David Fortney, Editor

Brendan Hubbard is a man of action. No, he doesn’t charge into far off jungles to rescue kidnapped children, or break into lost tombs to reclaim ancient treasure. He understands action. When he’s behind the lens you can be sure that he’s going to capture the important bits because he knows what looks best in the camera. What conveys human movement, emotion, and excitement the most on film. Have you ever looked at your footage and thought “Ah, man. Why did the DP pan away? The guy was just about to catch that puppy falling out of a window!” or “It would be really great if we had some B-Roll of a monkey riding a unicycle. You know, for ambience.” Well, Brendan already thought of that, and not only traveled three states over to find a Gibbon on a bike saving an overzealous terrier, he held the shot the entire time. And what more can you ask for from a cameraman?

Not only is he all of that, he’s a total blast to work with, endlessly creative, a team player through and through, and the best tool for turning your “I guess it will have to do. . . ” project into an “I wept at the beauty and majesty of this!” masterpiece. I highly recommend him for all creative production work, and for your general primate/transport/rescue needs.

-Josh Bowen, Editor

I’ve had the pleasure to work with Brendan as both an Editor and Producer. All experiences have been stellar. As a Producer, I can count on Brendan to bring creativity with light and lenses to capture and improve on what I’ve requested. He’s always engaged, professional and well-tempered with difficult requests and in challenging circumstances. One of the most enjoyable aspects of working with Brendan as an Editor, is his interaction before and after shoots. He enjoys looking at footage and dialoguing about what I need in post, shots that are helpful for specific projects and how as a team we can provide what’s best for the client.
